These programs are typically focused on helping a student improve how he or she is doing in a particular class.  These tutoring programs do help students improve skills but do so by helping the students excel in the particular classes.

Tutoring available at our center or in the comfort of your home.  Normal tutoring rate for Arlington and vicinity is $40 per hour(tutoring rates for Standardized Tests including the SAT and ACT are different, see Test Prep Options above for details).  Our tutors are available to travel to homes in Arlington, Mansfield, Fort Worth, Kennedale, Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, the Mid-Cities, Grand Prairie, Burleson, Crowley, and more.

Customized Reading and Math Programs

Knowledge Guides also offers customized math and reading programs which are designed to improve a specific skill.  These programs include a consultation and a diagnostic test at the beginning and at the end of the program.  These programs do not assist students with ongoing classes, but instead focus on the skills necessary for success in school. 


Comprehensive Reading Program 

Goals of program are to improve:
  • Reading Rate
  • Comprehension
  • Vocabulary and Spelling(for elementary students or as needed for secondary students).  Phonics may be included if desired.
  • Critical Thinking Skills

Details of program:
  • 18 one hour sessions.  Diagnostic tests and consultation are included in program and do not count            as sessions. 
  • Duration typically ranges from 9 to 18 weeks depending on schedule.  May be done more quickly if             desired.
  • 1 on 1 Instruction
  • Total:  $949

Reading Improvement Program

Goals are to improve:
  • Reading level by one or more grade levels
  • Reading comprehension
  • Vocabulary, spelling, phonics(if needed)
  • Reading rate

Details of program:
  • 36 one hour instructional sessions. 
  • Diagnostic tests and consultation included
  • Duration typically ranges from 18 to 36 weeks.
  • 1 on 1 instruction

Speed Reading Program

Goals of program are to improve:
  • Reading rate by 50 to 100%
  • How students maintain comprehension as rate increases
  • Rate in order to improve performance in school and on standardized tests 
  • How students adjust their rate appropriately to different types of reading

  • Intended for junior high, high school, and college students who are good readers
  • 12 one hour instructional sessions. 
  • Diagnostic tests and consultation included
  • Duration ranges from 6 to 12 weeks depending on schedule.
  • Total:  $720

Math Improvement Program

Goals of program are to improve:
  • Specific weaknesses reported by the teacher or parent or indicated by a standardized test.
  • Fundamental arithmetic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as needed by the child.  Other fundamental skills include problem solving, solving word problems, solving equations, etc.  For junior high and high school students, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry are addressed.
  • Student's grade level performance in math by 1 or more grade levels(may require longer program)
